I Saved My Butt
Mixed media on paper, each 30 x 30 cm, and a broken plate 30 cm, 2018 © Kavachi.
Kavachi was inspired by the locker room, canteen and kitchen where he worked as a dishwasher. The main material of this work is broken cups, plates which he collected during working time. Later, he recognized that in the locker room where he changed his clothes, the naked woman calendars were hanged and regularly renewed. These women images on the wall were servicing straight men’s desires but not the same-sex desire between men. Male figures used in the work are a response to this repulsiveness.
Mahlzeit is a german word means bon appetite.
