The Carpet Covers the Earth

Collaboration with Kunstfest Weimar. A red carpet, which is usually an expression of appreciation for distinguished and famous people at official events, is spread out by Kavachi in front of Weimar's municipal building which has an immigration office inside. The fabric for the carpet was donated by citizens of Weimar and collected in several donation boxes around the city for two months. Within two weeks, he assembles the fabrics piece by piece in a daily performance, inviting Weimars public and visitors to discuss concepts such as borders, nations or heritage during the performance. The work refers not only to the refugee debate, but also to the uniqueness of each person, regardless of where she or he came from and wherever she or he may go. Supported by Ausländerbehörde / Stadtverwaltung Weimar Special Thanks to Danica Dakić, Christian Holtzhauer, Anke Hannemann, Jirka Reichmann, Jana Herkner Many Thanks to Donators; Alan Hatlapa, Anke Hannemann, Alexander Hollberg, Alexandra Hegmann, Burhan Çiçek, Carolin Seeiling, Claudia Trouiller, Gabriela Flores, Hannah Duchworth, Hatice Dayıoğlu, Jenny Flügge, Jana Herkner, Jana Mickel, Karen Mian, Lena Fi, Mila Panic, Manus Rasu, Mathias, Paloma Sanchez, Sasa Tatic, Sarah Rudlof, Stefanie Klenin, Uta Köppel, Victori Maluche and all that I dont know their name. |
